Vintages chart for the red Bordeaux wines

Here you can get a quick view of the good and lesser good vintages in Bordeaux. The table is spil into two, the Medoc and Graves wines and the Saint Emilion and Pomerol wines.
The vintages notes are from my own tasting but mostly are taken from a general view. The best vintage gets 20 points and the worse 0 points.
Please also look at this old vintages chart from 1920-47 here her.

Year Medoc/Graves Saint Emilion/Pomerol Harvest Comments
2004 ? ? Fine harvest Another good vintage.
2003 19-20 16 A fine harvest. The heat of the summer though, could give some winemakers problems, but surly it will be at great vintage! A hot spring and summer and only little rain under the harvest. A small harvest of high quality. Medoc finest.
2002 17 16 Fine harvest A cold summer was followed by a good autumn and excellent harvest weather. Medoc finest.
2001 16 17 Fine harvest A warm august was followed by a cold September, so 2001 is not as good as the vintage 2000, but good! Saint Emilion finest.
2000 20 19 Excellent harvest A super vintage, which could be even better than 1990 & 1982!
1999 16 16 Ok harvest Some rain and not totally matured grapes. The vintage though will be better than 1997
1998 18 19 Fine harvest A little rain in Medoc during the harvest, but super Saint Emilion. Could be an overlooked vintage!?
1997 15 16 Fair harvest A lot of heat in the spring, gave matured Melot grapes, but a lot of rain from 25/8-1/9.
1996 19 18 Great harvest Strange weather, with lots of heat in June, a good July, but rain primo August. Sunny harvest weather although gave a great vintage. Medoc finest. The wines will have a long life, maybe 10-15 to mature!
1995 19 19 Great harvest A very hot summer resulted in a big harvest. A little rain during September, but it is a great vintage both in Medoc and Saint Emilion. The wines are ready to drink now (2005).
1994 14 15 Rain 13 days with rain in September ruined the hopes for a great vintage. Some Chateaus had made some great wine anyway. Ready now.
1993 13 14 Rain Lots of rain during September. The wines are ready now. Some of them are actually fine!
1992 10 11 Lots of rain A warm summer, but also a lot of rain. From September only a few days without rain! Drink now.
1991 12 10 Late harvest Strong frost in April ruined the flowering and resulted in a little and late harvest. The Medoc wines are fine now, but the wines from Saint Emilion are over the hill!
1990 20 20 Excellent harvest Extreme heat in July and August. Only a little rain in September and October. Wonderful wines now. The best Grand Cru Classe wines should still be kept though.
1989 19 20 Excellent harvest A superb vintage, where the Melot grape matured perfect. Saint Emilion wines tops but even the Melot wines are great. Ready now, but the big wines should still be kept.
1988 18 17 Fine harvest Tannin full Medoc wines and good Saint Emilion wines. Ready now.
1987 13 12 - although it was a bad weather in general, the Medoc wines are fine. The wines of Saint Emilion are unpredictable. Over the hill now.
1986 19 18 Excellent harvest Absolutely top Classic wines, especially in Medoc. Great wines now
1985 18 17 Fine harvest Very good and charming wines in Medoc and Saint Emilion. The big Medoc wines are excellent now.
1984 11 10 - Easy wines, which have been over the hill for years now.
1983 18 17 Fine harvest great vintage with tannin full wines in Medoc, in Margaux the wines are excellent!
1982 20 20 Excellent harvest Perfect wines in both Saint Emilion and Medoc. About the same type as the vintage of 1961.
1981 15 15 Fair harvest A fair vintage, where only the best wines are still drinkable.
1980 13 12 - Over the hill.
